You may be aware of the cruel murder of a young man in broad daylight on a street in Coimbatore. The CCTV footage from police control room was leaked on to News channels and eventually on to youtube.
This is a breach of privacy laws and a blatant disregard for the grief it may cause to the deceased person's next of kin. The duty officer at the time of this murder should be held responsible for this leak. Our laws are too ambiguous when it comes to privacy and news channels have no codes of ethics on what is deemed necessary video footage to accompany the story. Images of gruesome murder and mayhem should be blurred out with a clear warning to younger viewers. Every news channel from the civilized parts of the world follow these codes of ethics unconditionally. I guess we are yet to reach those stages of social progress.
