Congress partyയുടെ സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിയെ നിർത്തുന്നതു് high command. അവിടെയും ജനാധിപത്യം ഇല്ല. ഇവർ രണ്ടും അയോഗ്യരെ സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിയായി നിർത്തിയാൽ, ഇന്ത്യൻ constitution പോയിട്ടു് പത്രം വായിക്കാൻ പോലും അക്ഷരാഭ്യാസമില്ലാത്ത 60% ഇന്ത്യൻ ജനത എന്തു് ചെയ്യും? Section 49-O of the Constitution എടുത്തുവെച്ചു പ്രയോഗിക്കാൻ അവർക്ക് അറിയില്ലല്ലെ?

ജനാധിപത്യവും voters rightsഉം മറ്റെല്ലാ സവിധാനങ്ങളും പ്രായോജനപ്പെടണമെങ്കിൽ ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് അക്ഷരാഭ്യാസം വേണം. എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണു് കേരളത്തിൽ മറ്റു സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ചു് രാഷ്ട്രീയ ബോധം കൂടുതൽ ഉള്ളതു് എന്നു ചിന്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ആന്ധ്ര പ്രാദേശിലും, ഉത്തർ പ്രദേശിലും ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു നേതാവിനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു എന്താ ആരും അവിടെ മിമിക്രി അവതരിപ്പിക്കാത്തതു്?

ജനങ്ങൾ സ്വതന്ത്രരാണെങ്കിൽ മാത്രമെ ജനാധിപത്യം നടപ്പിൽ വരു. ആദ്യം അജ്ഞതയിൽ നിന്നു് മോക്ഷം കിട്ടാതെ ജനം സ്വതന്ത്രര്‍ ആവില്ല. പക്ഷെ നാടു ഭരിക്കാൻ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ഒരു ഘടകമല്ല എന്നാണു് നമ്മുടെ ജനനായകന്മാർ ജനങ്ങളെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു്.

യൂണിവേസിറ്റി വിദ്ധ്യാഭ്യാസമില്ലാത്ത ഒരുത്തനു് പെണ്ണു പോലും കൊടുക്കാത്തവരാണു് മലയാളികൾ പക്ഷെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുമ്പോൾ ആ കാര്യം എന്താ ആരും അന്വേഷിക്കാത്തതു്?

പറഞ്ഞു വന്നതു് ഇതാണു്. മമ്മൂട്ടി നാട്ടുകാരോടു വോട്ടു് ചെയ്യാൻ പറയുന്നതു് നല്ല കാര്യമാണു്. പക്ഷെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസമുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ മാത്രമെ നേതാക്കൾ പറയുന്ന വിവരവും (വിവരക്കേടും) വായിച്ചും കേട്ടും മനസിലാക്കാൻ കഴിയൂ. അപ്പോൾ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ഉള്ള ജനതക്കു മാത്രമെ യോഗ്യതയുള്ള ജനനായകന്മാരെ തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ കഴിയൂ. താങ്കളുടെ പുതിയ പടം release കാണാൻ class cut ചെയുതു ഉച്ചക്കു തമ്പാനൂരിൽ നില്ക്കുന്ന പിള്ളേരോടു് schoolൽ പോകാൻ പറയൂ. സാർ പറഞ്ഞാൽ ചിലപ്പോൾ കേൾക്കും.

ശ്രീ മമ്മൂട്ടി ബ്ലോഗ് തുടങ്ങിയതു് വളരെ നല്ല കാര്യമാണു്. പക്ഷെ ഒരു അപേക്ഷയുണ്ടു്. താങ്കളുടെ ആരാധകരുടെ അനുമോദനങ്ങളും പ്രശംസയും മാത്രം കൊണ്ടു ബ്ലോഗു് നിറച്ചിട്ട് കാര്യമില്ല. ബ്ലോഗിന്റെ സ്വഭാവമനിസരിച്ചു ചോദ്യങ്ങൾക്കു് മറുപടിയും എഴുതണം.

LDFന്റെ സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിയായി താങ്കൾ കേരള രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലേക്ക് കടക്കാൻ ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നു എന്ന വാർത്ത കണ്ടു.

ഇന്നുവരെ കേരളം കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രവർത്തകരിൽ നിന്നും വ്യത്യസ്തമായ ഒരു ഭാവി താങ്കൾക്കുണ്ടു. Obamaയുടെ election വിജയത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന കാരണം അദ്ദേഹം internetലൂടെ യുവജനങ്ങളുമായി അടുക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നുള്ളതാണു്. താങ്കൾക്കും അതിനുള്ള കഴിവുണ്ടു് എന്നു് എനിക്കു് തോന്നുന്നു. ആ കഴിവു് താങ്കൾ ബ്ലോഗിലൂടെ തെളിയിക്കണം.

താങ്കൾ കേരള രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലേക്കു് കടന്നുവരുമ്പോൾ കേരളത്തിനെന്തു് ഗുണം എന്നു് ഞാനടക്കമുള്ള ചിലർ ചോദിച്ചേക്കാം. അതിനുള്ള മറുപടി കൂടി ബ്ലോഗിലൂടെ താങ്കൾ എഴുതണം.

നാടു ഭരിച്ച പൂർവികരുടെ പോരായ്മകളും കോട്ടങ്ങളും എണ്ണി പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടാണു് ഇന്നുവരെ കേരളത്തിൽ എല്ലാ രാഷ്ട്രീയ പാർട്ടികളും കടന്നു വന്നതു്. പക്ഷെ അതിൽ നിന്നും വ്യത്യസ്തമായി തന്നെ ഭാവിയിൽ പ്രായോഗികമായി എന്തെല്ലാം മാറ്റങ്ങൾ വരുത്താൻ കഴിയും എന്നതിനെ കുറിച്ചും സാമ്പത്തിക ഭദ്രത എങ്ങനെ ഉറപ്പുവരുത്താം എന്നും. കാർഷിക മേഖല എങ്ങനെ മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്താം എന്നതിനെ കുറിച്ചും ഇവിടെ എഴുതണം.

കഴിഞ്ഞ മന്ത്രിസഭ ഭരിച്ചു് ഭരിച്ചു് ഒരു വഴിക്കാക്കിയ പല വികസന പദ്ധതികളും അലംങ്കോലപ്പെട്ടു കിടക്കുന്ന കാര്യം ശ്രീ മമ്മൂട്ടിക്ക് അറിയമായിരിക്കും.

എങ്കിലും ഒരു ചെറിയ clue തരാം.

തലസ്ഥാന നഗരമായ തിരുവനതപുരത്തു് നടപ്പിലാക്കാം എന്നു ഉറപ്പു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും ഇതുവരെ ഒന്നും പൂർത്തിയക്കാതെ പല projectകളും പാതി വഴി നിർത്തി വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. Airportന്റെ expansion projectന്റെ കഥ ഒരു mega-serial പോലെ നീണ്ടു നീണ്ടു പോകും.

ഇത്രയും പറഞ്ഞതിന്റെ കാരണം:

September 19നു Stephen Popick എഴുതിയ ഈ ലേഖനം വള്ളി പുള്ളി വിടാതെ അതുപോലെ തന്നെ പുള്ളി പകർത്തിയിരിക്കുകയാണു്. ജനുവരി ഒന്നിനു് രാവിലെ പല്ലും തേച്ചു "മമ്മൂക്ക"യുടെ ബ്ലോഗിൽ comment എഴുതാനായി മാത്രം ബ്ലോഗ് തുടങ്ങിയ Fans മാത്രമായിരുന്നു ഇതു കണ്ടതു് എങ്കിൽ ഒരു പ്രശ്നവുമില്ലായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷെ ഖേദവശാൽ google search ചെയ്യാൻ അറിയാവുന്ന ചിലരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.


ഇതു വായിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങൾ പറയും, "വിട്ടേക്കു കൈപ്പള്ളി, പയ്യനല്ലെ". ശരിയാണു് പയ്യനാണു്. പക്ഷെ വളർന്നു വളർന്നു് ഒരു വൻ കള്ളനാകാതിരിക്കാൻ, (അല്ലെങ്കിൽ കുറച്ചുകൂടി നല്ല ഒരു കള്ളനാകാനെങ്കിലും) ഇതു സഹയകരമാകും. മാത്രമല്ല content മോഷണം നമ്മുടേതായാലും വല്ലവന്റെ[read as non-malayalees]തായാലും തെറ്റു് തെറ്റു തന്നെ. മോഷണം എവിടെ, ആരു്, എപ്പോഴ് ചെയ്താലും, അതു് പോക്കി എടുത്തു പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അലക്കണം. പക്ഷെ ഇതു് അധികം ആരും ഇപ്പോഴ് ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല. Internetൽ നിന്നും മോഷ്ടിച്ചാൽ ആരും ഒന്നും ചെയ്യില്ല എന്നൊരു തോന്നൽ ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ടാണു് ചിലർ ഇതു് ചെയ്യുന്നതു്.

2009 ജനുവരി ഒന്നാം തിയതി മലയാളം ബ്ലോഗ് ലോകത്തേക്കു് "സ്നേഹപൂർവ്വം മമ്മൂട്ടി" എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു പുതിയ ബ്ലോഗ് കടന്നു വന്നു. മമ്മൂട്ടി സ്വന്തമായി ബ്ലോഗിൽ എഴുതുകയാണോ അല്ലയോ എന്നതു് ഇവിടെ പ്രസക്തമല്ല. ആഗോള സാമ്പത്തിക തകർച്ച എങ്ങനെ തരണം ചെയ്യാം എന്നുള്ള ബ്ലോഗിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ പോസ്റ്റും ഇവിടെ വിഷയമല്ല. മമ്മൂട്ടിയെ പോലൊരു വ്യക്തി ബ്ലോഗിൽ വരുന്നതു് എന്തുകൊണ്ടും മലയാളം ബ്ലോഗിനും മലയാളം unicode പ്രചരണത്തിനു് വളരെ സഹായകരമായ ഒരു കാര്യം തന്നെയാണു് എന്നു ചൂണ്ടിക്കാണിക്കാനാണു് ഞാൻ ഈ പോസ്റ്റ് എഴുതുന്നതു.

ഇന്നുവരെ ഒരു അക്കാദമിക്കും ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയാത്ത പ്രചരണമാണു ഇപ്പോൾ മലയാളം ബ്ലോഗിനു് കിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നതു്. ഭാവിയിൽ സിനിമാ താരങ്ങളുടേയും, രാഷ്ട്രീയക്കാരുടേയും പേരിൽ ഇതുപോലെ ബ്ലോഗുകൾ ഉണ്ടാകട്ടെ എന്നു് ആശംസിക്കുന്നു.

If a suspect is caught with "weapons," the law will presume the accused is guilty; in other words the burden of proof will be shifted from the state to the accused, thereby violating one of the most essential principles of civil liberty—"innocent until proven guilty."

In short the maxim of Indian jurisprudence has been re-written to read: "Guilty until proven innocent".

The time has come for the witch-hunt. Ethical journalists, human rights activists, honest people and bloggers will all be suspects. There are few option available under this new law. Either shut up and watch our nation turn into a Police State or end up in jail. It is tragic that this was the only solution our lawmakers could think of when threatened by a few hired thugs. One billion people will be subjected to this medieval law. I seriously wonder how this could happen in this day and age.

I see the Indian democracy dissolving into insignificance. I never thought I would say this but I am forced to say this: I now wonder what a civilized state like Kerala is doing in this union of medieval numskulls.

1) ഇന്ത്യാക്കാരനാകാന്‍ ഏതെങ്കിലും മതത്തില്‍പെട്ടവനാകണമോ? മതേതര ഭാരതത്തില്‍ മതവിശ്വാസിയല്ലാത്തവനെ രാജ്യം എന്തു സംരക്ഷണം നല്‍കുന്നു?
2) ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ഭരണഘടന നിരീശ്വരവാദികളെ എങ്ങനെ കാണുന്നു?
3) നിരീശ്വരവാദികൾക്ക് സമാധാനമായി ജീവിക്കാൻ ഭരണഘടന ഭേദഗതി വരുത്താൻ ഏതു് രാഷ്ട്രീയ പാർട്ടിയിൽ ചേരണം?
4) Is atheism an option in India?

Change we can believe in

So everything is back to the oft-dreaded perfect normalcy. The commandos have returned to their barracks. The politicians in their party offices scheming on new political offensives. The smugglers have resumed their shipments. The hawala is running in top shape. The babus are back in their municipal offices making space under their tables. The police are back to.. whatever Mumbai policemen usually do. The bereaved families are mourning in silence. And the City swings back to where it left off on 26th November.

And last but not least the everlasting sign of our nations progress: Thousands of masala TV channels and so-called news channels dishing out a combination of bullshit and sad excuses for entertainment to the masses. The people are satisfied. The sponsors are satisfied. The agencies are satisfied. The rating looks better than ever. Nothing can stop them, not even the death of a few hundred. Aaaaaah its just brilliant.

Some half backed 'geniuses' on the News Channels have equated this calamity with the one the Americans endured not so long ago. They call it "9/11". It wouldn't make much sense if we start calling it 26/11 since our months appear after the date. (Those crazy Americans change everything!). So to sound a bit cool our news anchors call the Mumbai attacks "India's 9/11". I know it's a sinister attempt to connect the two attacks to the same source.

Oh, and a reminder about that analogy to 9/11:. Right after 9/11, almost all American sitcoms and cable channels delayed new programming for weeks, to mourn their dead and to re-think the direction their nation needs to take. Such was their shock and their reaction to the events. They did not "bounce back" the next day. They did not show "resilience". And later they bounced back so hard that they landed in Afghanistan and kicked every butt in sight. For better or for worse they landed in Iraq and did some more butt kicking.

I should not be comparing our nation to the west.

But, this is not the time for us to sit before the idiot box and watch boob-shakers and bum-movers. I would urge our ardent television audience to voice your protest to them. And keep this terrible event fresh in the nations hear. If not for a year at least for a month.

So far most of the entertainment television channels have not disrupted regular programing. I can understand how this will affect those valuable ratings and sponsorships. But these are extra-ordinary times which call for extra-ordinary measures. Its natural for humans to try and forget unpleasant events and replace them with pleasant ones. This should not be the case here. The objective should not be to forget and forge ahead. We should forge ahead fueled by our spirit for change. And these memories should remain fresh in our minds. The media should keep the fire burning. Our people need constant reminding of these events in order to affect that change.

We cannot expect governments to do the right thing at their pace. Its time to question the delays and the failings of this operations. Its time to question why our intelligence and logistics failed. We cannot be satisfied with excuses as to why it took almost three days to neutralize 8 terrorists. We should not be satisfied with the resignations of a few ministers. Unfortunately we lack leaders who can inspire and lead. So let me quote Obama here. We need Change we can believe in.

There are minds in our nation that sympathize with these men who took our nation hostage for three days. Lets realize that this is the new reality we have to live with. Unless we are ready to acknowledge the real enemy there will be no solution to this menace. We have been consumed, to the point of no return, with extreme secularism that has numbed our minds into hopeless pacifism.

Unless we find the resolve and courage to stop religious extremism in our cities, villages, homes and minds, this will forever remain an escalating threat to our sovereignty.

My fellow Indians.

Our nation is in the midst of a disasterous reality. The reality of terrorism. This is not the first time foreigners have unleashed ruthless violence on our land and our people in the name of some utopian concept. We have survived such attacks before, and we can survive this one too. This is the moment we have to unite to stand by our men in uniform and our forces. This is the moment to shed our caste, class and creed identities. If ever there is a need to unite, it is at times like this. Let us also remember that this is not the moment to reap political gains from this misery. There will be those who stand in the periphery and accuse our forces for their misgivings. I urge them to show compassion and hold their peace till we can recuperate from our grief.
